The occasion is the presentation to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, of John Sloan's fine canvas, "The Lafayette." This picture, which immortalizes a historic New York landmark, is being purchased by popular subscription for the sum of five thousand dollars. More than half of this amount has already been subscribed by artists, friends and pupils of John Sloan.
