Mr. Claude Gallo,
253 East 51st St.,
New York City.
Dear Miss Gallo:
Your name has been given to me as a friend of John Sloan's, and I am writing to inform you that it has been proposed to present his painting, "The Lafayette", to the Metroppolitan Museum of Art. The picture has already been accepted by the Museum, and it remains for us now to collect the money for its purchase, $5000. Much of this has already been promised, but the Committee feels that there are a great many former students and admirers of John Sloan who would consider it a privilege to contribute.
I am writing for the Committee to ask if you would like to join us by sending a cheque for not more than $10. If you are interested, will you reply at once to me at the above address?
Sincerely yours,
Juliana R. Force
