Dear Mrs. Whitney:
The Chicago Art Institute has invited me to exhibit the stone figure which they saw in the recent exhibition at the Studio Club.
Would you mind very much lending it? If you have any objection I could ask them to accept some other piece, but if not all you have to do is to mail them the enclosed card and they will take care of shipping to and from the show.
I have not filled in the price but would suggest doubling the price you paid, which it seems to me you have a right to do as it belongs to you, as they undertake to insure for one half the sales price. However, I leave this to your judgement.
I hear from your daughter Barbara that you had a fine trip on the Roma. The Sicilian trip is as fresh as ever in my memory and the blue and gold vision of temples against southern skies is there for keeps. I can never thank you enough. Hoping to see you soon,
Cordially yours,
Cecil Howard
