On entering the Whitney Studio to see Oscar Bluemner's painting, one says to one's self, "Oh, yes, on glass." The artist has not painted on glass. Predominating emphatic reds and greens give a false impression that a purply color, creeping in from behind, does much to correct. Oscar Bluemner obviously stresses --ign that, having based its origin --fact, grows fancifully. Whether --e a round sun or a long shadow, --develops from a fundamental --. Even the brush strokes fol- --The titles are in keeping --wn, a Canal-Transition from --akening to Dreaming"; "Chimney at Canal-Transition from Fact to Imagination." And one is grateful to the imagination that has planted a branch of green leaves in the neighborhood of the chimney. Paintings by Oscar Bluemner -- The Whitney Studio -- Closes Nov. 23.
