Dear Mr. Speicher:
I delayed the news about the sale of your picture because I wanted to explain that this picture was the $600. one which you gave me for an exhibition some time ago and which was sent with the Traveling Show by mistake, so that the enclosed check represents the selling price, which was marked on the back, minus the commission which the Museum deducted. This gave me a chance to substitute the $700 flower painting in the Traveling Show, now in San Francisco.
I hope that you will feel pleased instead of being cross with me for my mistake in the beginning. We are very proud to sell a picture at the first stopping place of the Traveling Show, and I think it brought good luck, because I have a wire from San Francisco, making an offer on two other pictures in the Show.
Sincerely yours,
