Dear Mr. Sachs:
I returned to the Museum in the afternoon with some people who were anxious to see the entire show, and your assistants were good enough to take us to the store-room to see the pictures which were not hung.
I believe, after the most careful consideration, that I understand the entire situation in regard to this exhibition of pictures which I consider so important and vital a representation of contemporary American art. Believing that I do understand, and with full appreciation of your own attitude, not forgetting at all the generous gesture which you have made in the matter, I am writing to ask if you will have the entire exhibition of forty two paintings shipped at once to New York so that it will be possible to give an extra week to the Art Students' League, who have invited the show there for its final showing.
