My dear Mrs. Force:-
In connection with the presentation of Mr. Sloan's picture to the Metropolitan Museum, I have a letter from the Committee of which Mr. Duncan Phillips is chairman, suggesting that I might be interested in joining a group each of whose members will contribute $250. towards the purchase of the picture.
I am a great admirer of Mr. Sloan and of his work but I regret to say that because of other demands, it will be impossible for me to become a contributor in anything approximating so considerable an amount.
I am very glad indeed however, to bring my total subscription up to $25 and am enclosing my check to your order for the additional $15.
