The canal bisects the composition diagonally. On the opposing shoreline is an embankment, a reddish [presumably] brick building with a gray roof and many glass windows. Next to the buildings are mounds or piles. In the background are trees, hoisting machinery, and more smoke. In the far distance lies a cityscape and a faint sunrise or sunset glow on the horizon.
