Description--Front	Panoramic view of Lock No. 1 at Waterloo, N. Y., towards end of lock, looking down canal at dusk, with bridge and trees beyond. Scene depicts large tree on right side of bank, overshadowing lock house with dog at entrance and man standing at edge of lock gate. Lamppost, possibly gas or kerosene, stands at side of lock house. A line of utility poles run along left side of the canal (presumably Seneca Canal). Title of card printed in top left corner, in red lettering.

Digitization Specifications	Archive masters were scanned at 600 ppi, 24 bit color using a Canon CanoScan LiDE 600F and Scangear scanning software by Thomas T. Surprenant, and saved as uncompressed TIFFs. Auto color correction and cropping were performed on uncompressed service masters (TIFFs) using Photoshop CS2 and Mac OS 10.4. Derivative access files were saved as medium quality JPEGs, 150 dpi, 1000 pixels on the long dimension. Thumbnails were generated automatically by CONTENTdm.
